Steam Engine Plans
Here you will find a collection of steam engine plans ranging from vertical slide to oscillating two cylinder marine steam engines. All are in the standard PDF format for easy viewing and scalability. For the modelmaker adept at the lathe and with a flair for mechanics, small scale steam engines are ever fascinating projects. Customers are very pleased with these plans and often write back with how they adapted it for their own use. If you are interested in steam and how it can be the next great engine then these plans will be very interesting for you. A great hobby project for father and son!
Vertical Slide Valve Steam Engine Plans
These plans are for construction from castings. Castings are often hard bronze which finishes up beautifully and takes a high polish when buffed. The engine has been carefully designed for amateur construction and is within the ability of the beginner who has a fair acquaintance with his lathe. When properly machined and connected to a suitable boiler, it is a sturdy little power plant. Contains text descriptions, detailed diagrams, photos, measurements, etc. Our price: $ 5.99
Tesla Turbine Engine Plans
One of the great lost engines, Tesla's long neglected turbine is due for a revival. It's a simple model making project: no pistons, so no close tolerances! And it runs on air or steam! These plans are based on the engineering reports of the actual engine Tesla built for a New York power company. As steam from the nozzles spirals between the disks its drag spins them. Rotor assembly is the heart of the turbine which consists of 18 metal disks spaced apart on a shaft. Our price: $ 5.99
Oscillating Steam Engine Plans
This model is one of the simplest steam engine designs, includes a boiler and its fittings. The feature of the engine is the rocking or oscillation of the cylinder. As the steam passes through the upper port into the cylinder it forces the piston down, turning the crank. The cylinder rocks on an arc to allow for the movement of the connecting rod attached to the crank throw, closing the upper and opening the lower ports. This allows steam to enter again and force the piston up and the action is then repeated. Our price: $ 5.99
